The spark of creativity was ignited during an enchanting film experience: "Tenet," a masterpiece by Christopher Nolan. As I was drawn into the intriguing storylines, the impressive cinematography, and the profound themes, I felt a wave of inspiration flow through me. The film sparked my imagination and evoked an irresistible urge to begin my own artistic journey. In the aftermath of the movie, infused with the suspense of the plot and the complexity of the characters, I started reflecting on the power of visual storytelling. Inspired by the magic of film as a medium, I decided to tell my own story, though in a different form: an animated movie poster. The idea of an animated movie poster offered a unique opportunity to capture and interpret the essence of "Tenet" in a way that was both visually stunning and artistically challenging. It was a chance to unite my love for film and design, creating a piece of art that was both a tribute to the movie and a unique expression of my own vision. And so began my journey toward creating the animated movie poster, a journey driven by passion, imagination, and a deep-rooted love for art and film. Watching "Tenet" was just the beginning; the real magic lay in the journey that followed, a journey that led me to undiscovered creative horizons and inspired me to tell my own story through animation and design.

Research

In addition to watching "Tenet," I also delved into extensive research to enrich my creative vision. I dived deep into the world of Christopher Nolan's work, studying his cinematic techniques, narrative structures, and thematic elements. This allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the source of inspiration behind my animated movie poster. Furthermore, I explored the artistic styles and techniques used in animation and graphic design. I researched vector illustrations and animated posters, drawing inspiration from various sources both within and outside the film industry. This enabled me to explore a wide range of possibilities and expand my creative palette. I also delved into the themes and symbolism central to "Tenet" and other works by Nolan. This allowed me to explore the deeper meanings behind the film and uncover hidden layers of story and meaning that enriched my own creative process. Through my research, I not only deepened my knowledge and understanding but also broadened my creative horizon. It allowed me to approach my animated movie poster with deeper insight and an enhanced sensitivity to the nuances of the story and the visual language associated with it.

Defining Visual Style

After conducting my research, I dove deeper into the process of defining the visual style for my animated movie poster. I began exploring different artistic directions and aesthetic choices that would align with the themes of "Tenet" and my own creative vision. This mood board served as a visual collage of inspiration, ranging from film stills and conceptual art to graphic designs and color palettes. Using the mood board, I identified the key visual elements I wanted to incorporate into my poster. From color schemes to composition and typography, each aspect was carefully considered to create a cohesive and impactful design that would captivate and engage viewers. The process of defining the visual style and creating the mood board was not only a creative exercise but also a journey of self-discovery and expression. It allowed me to refine my artistic vision and transform my inspiration into tangible forms and colors, creating an immersive world of imagination ready to come to life on screen.

Concept Drawings

It all started with a simple idea that slowly took shape in my mind. I had a vision for an animated movie poster and knew that developing compelling concept drawings was a crucial first step to bringing my creative vision to life. To capture the foundation of my ideas, I decided to start with a traditional medium: pencil and paper. During this early stage of my creative process, I often sat at my desk, surrounded by stacks of sketch paper, pencils of varying hardness, and an eraser that I regularly used to refine and adjust my thoughts. My goal was to capture the essence of my ideas on paper without getting lost in details, leaving room for experimentation and exploration.

Digitizing

After creating my concept drawings with pencil and paper, I moved on to the next phase of my creative process: digitizing these rough sketches in Adobe Illustrator. Using digital tools, I brought my hand-drawn concepts to life on the screen, refining and perfecting each line and shape. Digitizing the drawings allowed me to be flexible and make quick adjustments to my designs. I could try out different variations, experiment with colors, and add details to refine my concepts down to the smallest nuances. After digitizing all the concept drawings, I took the time to carefully review and evaluate each design. I compared them based on their impact, aesthetics, and ability to convey my story and vision. Ultimately, I chose the design that was the most powerful and meaningful, the one that brought my ideas to life the best. With the selected design in hand, I proceeded to refine and perfect it, working out all the details to the finest level. This allowed me to realize my creative vision down to the smallest details and create an immersive experience for the viewers of my animated movie poster.

Programming

After selecting the final design of my animated movie poster, I began the exciting process of animation using only CSS. With this powerful styling language, I was able to bring the elements of my design to life with smooth movements and subtle effects. I started by dissecting my SVG design into separate elements, such as paths, shapes, and text. Then, I applied CSS animations and transitions to these elements to add dynamism and life to my poster. Using keyframes and transition effects, I created a captivating visual experience that drew viewers into the world of my poster. Every movement, every effect was carefully considered and placed to enhance the mood and story of my design. Whether it was subtle text movements, shape distortions, or scene transitions, each animation served a specific purpose and contributed to the overall impact of my animated movie poster. Using only CSS for the animation not only presented a challenge but also an opportunity to test and improve my skills. It allowed me to experiment with different techniques and approaches and push my creative boundaries in pursuit of a stunning final result.
